Playa del Carmen is located on the beautiful Mexican Caribbean coast some 60 km. south of Cancun on the Yucatan Peninsula. Only a couple of years ago Playa del Carmen was no more than a small fishing village and a parking lot for the ferry to Cozumel. Today, it is a vibrant fast-growing cosmopolitan beach town with a surprisingly relaxed atmosphere completed by stretches of white sandy beaches and the crystal clear blue Caribbean Sea.

Playa del Carmen, contrary to Cancun, does not have any high-rise hotels and virtually no all-inclusive resorts. Playa del Carmen is a "laid back funky town" full of small bars, restaurants, hotels and shops. Many of the local restaurants and hotels are owned and managed by Europeans and North Americans. Therefore you'll find a true international culture in Playa del Carmen and an amazing variety of international cuisine, varying from authentic Mexican tacos to real Italian pizzas and pastas and Swedish style noodles.

Situated in the middle of the Mayan Riviera, between Cancun and Tulum, Playa del Carmen is the perfect base for a Caribbean dive and adventure holiday.
