go pro!

PADI Divemaster (DM): Take the first step in your dive career and become a PADI Divemaster. While working closely with a PADI Instructor, you'll expand your dive knowledge and hone your skills as you become a dive professional. PADI Divemaster training develops your leadership abilities by training you to supervise dive activities and assist instructors with student divers. You need to be a Rescue diver with a current CPR and First Aid certification to start the course.

PADI Assistant Instructor (AI): The PADI Assistant Instructor course is the first portion of the PADI Instructor Development Course (IDC). In this course you will gain additional experience as a PADI Professional and you'll start learning the PADI System of diver education.

PADI Instructor Development Course (IDC): The PADI IDC is the final step on the road to becoming a PADI Dive Instructor. The IDC is an intensive 9-day program that consists of two parts — the Assistant Instructor (AI) course and the Open Water Scuba Instructor (OWSI) program. The IDC is designed to further develop your dive and teaching skills, dive knowledge, and leadership abilities to not only confidently pass the PADI Instructor Examination, but also to become a confident PADI instructor. After successfully completing the IDC you are ready to participate in the PADI Instructor Examination (IE).

Continuing education for PADI Instructors. Check out these courses if you are a PADI Instructor and want to continue your own training to work towards the next instructor rating like PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer or PADI IDC Staff Instructor.

PADI Specialty Instructor: After becoming a PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor (OWSI) you'll want to teach divers specific types of diving depending on what your local area has to offer and your own personal interests. To do this you have to teach PADI Specialties. Being a PADI Specialty Instructor will make you a more versatile instructor and you get to teach the courses that specifically interest you. The following PADI Instructor Specialties ratings can be obtained through The Dive Company:

Deep Diver, Underwater Navigator, Search & Recovery Diver, Drift Diver, Underwater Naturalist, Night Diver, Enriched Air Diver, Aware Fish Identification and Underwater Photographer

PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer (MSDT): If you want to be able to train your students to the highest level of training in recreational diving you need to become a MSDT. To become a MSDT you will need to be a PADI Specialty Instructor in 5 different Specialties and you need to have issued at least 25 PADI certifications. The Dive Company has a special MSDT preparation program that will allow you to apply for your MSDT rating in only a few days time. Send us an email for more information: info@thedivecompany.com

PADI IDC Staff Instructor (IDCS): PADI IDC Staff Instructors are PADI Instructors moving towards instructor-level training or teaching the Instructor Development Course (IDC). IDC Staff Instructors can independently train and certify PADI Assistant Instructors as well as help train PADI Open Water Scuba Instructors. To become a PADI IDCS Instructor you need to be a renewed PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer. You will need to audit a complete IDC during which you will learn to teach the PADI Assistant Instructor course and assist with Instructor Development programs.

PADI EFR Instructor (EFRI):During the EFRI course you will learn how to conduct Emergency First Response Primary (CPR) and Secondary Care (first aid) courses as well as the Care for Children (CFC) course. You will learn how to demonstrate skills, motivate students, present course content efeectively and evaluate student knowledge. You’ll also learn how to conduct the recommended Automated External Defibrillator (AED), and emergency oxygen provider skills.
