PADI
Divemaster (DM): Take the first step in your dive career and become a PADI
Divemaster. While working closely with a PADI Instructor, you'll
expand your dive knowledge and hone your skills as you become a
dive professional. PADI Divemaster training develops your leadership
abilities by training you to supervise dive activities and assist
instructors with student divers. You need to be a Rescue diver with
a current CPR and First Aid certification to start the course.
PADI
Assistant Instructor (AI): The PADI Assistant Instructor course is the first portion
of the PADI Instructor Development Course (IDC). In this course
you will gain additional experience as a PADI Professional and you'll
start learning the PADI System of diver education.
PADI
Instructor Development Course (IDC): The PADI IDC is the final step on the road to becoming a
PADI Dive Instructor. The IDC is an intensive 9-day program that
consists of two parts — the Assistant Instructor (AI) course
and the Open Water Scuba Instructor (OWSI) program. The IDC is designed
to further develop your dive and teaching skills, dive knowledge,
and leadership abilities to not only confidently pass the PADI Instructor
Examination, but also to become a confident PADI instructor. After
successfully completing the IDC you are ready to participate in
the PADI Instructor Examination (IE).
Continuing
education for PADI Instructors. Check out these courses if you are
a PADI Instructor and want to continue your own training to work
towards the next instructor rating like PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer
or PADI IDC Staff Instructor.
PADI
Specialty Instructor: After becoming a PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor (OWSI)
you'll want to teach divers specific types of diving depending on
what your local area has to offer and your own personal interests.
To do this you have to teach PADI Specialties. Being a PADI Specialty
Instructor will make you a more versatile instructor and you get
to teach the courses that specifically interest you. The following
PADI Instructor Specialties ratings can be obtained through The
Dive Company:
Deep Diver, Underwater Navigator, Search & Recovery Diver, Drift
Diver, Underwater Naturalist, Night Diver, Enriched Air Diver, Aware
Fish Identification and Underwater Photographer
PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer (MSDT): If you want to be able to train your students to the highest
level of training in recreational diving you need to become a MSDT.
To become a MSDT you will need to be a PADI Specialty Instructor
in 5 different Specialties and you need to have issued at least
25 PADI certifications. The Dive Company has a special MSDT preparation
program that will allow you to apply for your MSDT rating in only

IDC Staff Instructor (IDCS): PADI IDC Staff Instructors are PADI Instructors moving towards
instructor-level training or teaching the Instructor Development
Course (IDC). IDC Staff Instructors can independently train and
certify PADI Assistant Instructors as well as help train PADI Open
Water Scuba Instructors.
To become a PADI IDCS Instructor you need to be a renewed PADI Master
Scuba Diver Trainer. You will need to audit a complete IDC during
which you will learn to teach the PADI Assistant Instructor course
and assist with Instructor Development programs.
PADI
EFR Instructor (EFRI):During the EFRI course you will learn how to conduct Emergency
First Response Primary (CPR) and Secondary Care (first aid) courses as well as the Care for Children (CFC) course.
You will learn how to demonstrate skills, motivate students, present course content efeectively and evaluate student knowledge. You’ll also learn how to conduct the recommended Automated
External Defibrillator (AED), and emergency oxygen provider skills.
