Swimming and snorkeling with Whale Sharks
The whale shark is the largest fish in the world, reaching an impressive length of 45-60 ft / 15-20 m. Whale sharks are filter-feeding sharks that live on plankton to small fishes, squid and crustacea. An encounter with this huge, yet totally harmless fish is one you will never forget.

From June to September, whale sharks swim near the island Holbox to feed in these plankton-rich waters before migrating South. Holbox is separated from the mainland coast of Mexico by a shallow lagoon, which also gives sanctuary to thousands of flamingos, pelicans and other exotic birds and creatures.
